Maintaining a wood coffee table isn't always as simple as other materials, it needs more effort to hold them good so it will serve its function for a long time. Here are a few tips you should do for keeping a great quality of wood coffee table that simply takes some cents of your wallet.
Oftenly clean up the dust and the dirt
You mightn't see the dust on your wood coffee table, it also harmless, yet enough to get some blemish on your wood coffee table. By using a soft, wool-free material or cotton can work, clean this dust every week, at least. Don't use dust polish that contains silicone, it can immerse to the wood, then possibly break the wood later. Soak your cloth with water or you can also use the microfiber fabric that will help remove the dust.
When you put your glass on the wood table, usually it leaves a few marks on it, sometimes it is easy to remove, but some others will be more difficult. A tip for that problem is by rubbing the mark with mayonnaise which you can simply get from your kitchen, and wait for a few minutes, clean it with a not so wet towel. The, voila! The marks will easily disappear.
PositioningYou can't place a wood table anywhere, one you should be considered is trying not to put it near the heater or the radiator. The change in your room temperature can possibly damage the wood after a long-term period. Another easy trick is putting leaves in the table, as you can see if the leaf finally malformed, it means the humidity and the room temperature are not stable for the wood table as well.
HumidityMaintaining a humidity level between 40 to 45 % is the other crucial part to maintain a wood coffee table. The lower temperature can crack the wood, while the higher possibly cause the swelling. Therefore, when winter comes, it is better to run a humidifier and set an air conditioner in summer.
Make it glossyDon't use a lint-free fabric or cloth. Use the wax nor another material to polish the wood instead of rubbing it with a silicone product. The other alternative is hard carnauba wax, even it may need more effort with your hands, fortunately, you do not need to do this daily. You can polish the wood only two times a year to make it glossy.
